10 Tips for a Successful Email Marketing Compliance Strategy

The email compliance area is rapidly growing, and constantly connecting people to businesses in new and valuable ways everyday. As such, email marketers need to keep abreast of the changes, challenges, and best practices, especially with privacy and data protection regulations globally.

To help, the ANA EEC took a high-level look at global, legal, and regulatory requirements and boiled them down to a 10-step guided-compliance checklist which you can read in its entirety here) to assist as you implement new campaigns as well as auditing your existing campaigns.

The document also concisely highlights best practices and strategies, such as "providing specific recommendations like including a country field in your email capture forms since compliance requirements can differ by country. You may wish to even employ state/province fields on your forms to help track compliance needs," as stated in the EEC's announcement

As stated in the checklist, "billions of email users worldwide and a Return on Investment (ROI) of $38-$44 for every $1 spent on email marketing." This means email marketing practices need to be constantly refreshed and evolve to the fast-changing landscape.
