THE RISE OF YOUTH GIVING

sparks & honey’s Future of Giving report pinpoints five key cultural trends disrupting the Future of Giving – this session will focus on a key cultural shift among this fascinating landscape: the Rise of Youth Giving.

Eighty-four percent of millennials are donating to charity, but an uncertain economic future and vast societal inequality are significantly affecting how they give, especially at a time when the average gen Zer has an average debt of $14,700. Among these challenges, we will examine how younger givers will evolve from internet activists of today to the impact activists of tomorrow. Understand the key trends driving Youth Giving and how they come to life in real-world examples, or cultural signals.

This session will be presented by sparks & honey’s Robb Henzi, Policy & Philanthropy Practice Lead and SVP of Cultural Strategy. Attendees can expect to walk away with actionable thought starters on how their organization can lean into the evolving trends around Youth Giving.

MIDLEVEL FUNDRAISING: WHERE WE’VE BEEN, WHERE WE’RE GOING

Midlevel donors are the bedrock of a healthy donor file and yet many organizations continue to neglect or mismanage them. Midlevel donors live in the intersection of direct marketing and major gift fundraising and effective midlevel fundraising requires a hybrid approach that many organizations have difficulty implementing. To complicate matters, midlevel donors have widely divergent expectations around how they expect to be treated. This session will explore the trajectory of midlevel philanthropy, spotlight opportunities and challenges and offer concrete strategic and tactical suggestions for success. In addition, Mark Rovner of Sea Change Strategies will share trends and findings based on a decade of research into midlevel fundraising.
