This Recruiting and Retaining with Purpose committee brings together those who are interested in learning best practices of how we attract and retain the best talent for our industry. We explore this topic from a variety different angles whether that be through technology, process, or diversity with the goal of creating a wider perspective of how we build a better talent pipeline and keep that talent engaged. Typical attendees include marketers, agency HR executives, heads of diversity, heads of recruiting, and university career services.

The marketing and advertising industry invests millions of dollars recruiting students to join our respective organizations. However, there is no consistent message about how dynamic, innovative, creative, and analytical the industry is and the kinds of roles where we need incredible talent. McCann Worldgroup has released a timely and thought-provoking study called The Truth About Diversity which highlights key attitudinal shifts and ingrained bias that impact brands navigating today’s multicultural consumer marketplace. The study also details perceptions about diversity that influence employment decisions being made by current and prospective talent - another critical factor for brands as scarcity of talent continues to increase. This session will explore this important consumer study and how the insights were leveraged to drive a game-changing global activation McCann Worldgroup launched, internally, to shift mindsets about diversity and increase inclusive behaviors across the network.

This workshop will share findings from the inclusion research the ANA Educational Foundation (AEF) did in conjunction with marketing intelligence company Morning Consult as a follow up to the Diversity Disconnect: Charting More Inclusive Pathways to Growth study. AEF and Morning Consult will facilitate a discussion about the research and to formulate an action plan to address some of the inclusion gaps we see through the research.
