Effective Writing for Business (Half Day)

(Half Day Workshop)

Workshop Description
Welcome to the first five-generation workplace. A workplace where 30% of your team members learned English as their second language. A workplace and marketplace that’s communicating in emoticons, memes, images and abbrvtns—a “language” none of us learned in school. A workplace where senior management demands “proper” English…whatever that is. So how do you move towards a customer-centric voice, yet keep the corporate style your internal stakeholders continue to cling to?

We’ll address it all—including the latest AI writing and grammar software. You’ll learn about different styles and voices, dive into “speaking like your audience,” and review actual examples of how major corporations are moving to a more customer-friendly voice. We’ll build on what you already know and give you additional tools to stay in tune with your customers and markets and turn your “corporate speak” into meaningful customer engagement.

This is a deep topic so this workshop covers the essentials. You will learn about the key aspects you need to know to develop effective communications both internally and to your customers. And we’ll give you a dozen tips, techniques and hacks you can use to improve everyone’s writing—immediately!

Who Is This Workshop For?
As the new rules of messaging continue to evolve and new writing software becomes available, everyone in your marketing group — from the actual writers to your marketers, strategists and senior management — needs to understand how customers are engaging with brands and communicating about them. Equally important, everyone needs to learn the new rules of speaking to your customers.
