U.S. Surgeon General Calls for Cancer Warnings on Alcohol Products
New labelling requirements on products would require an act of Congress
While the link between consuming alcohol and heightened risk for cancer has been growing for decades, less than half of Americans recognize it as a risk factor for cancer, according to a new advisory by the U.S. Surgeon General. To spread the message, the Surgeon General is recommending that alcohol products like beer and wine carry warnings of their links to cancer.
