ANA Applauds Veto of California AB 3048
September 23, 2024 (Washington D.C.) – The Association of National Advertisers (ANA) today released the following statement from ANA EVP Christopher Oswald following California Governor Gavin Newsom's veto of AB 3048.
"We commend Governor Newsom for addressing the concerns of the advertising community and vetoing this unnecessary, ambiguous, and anti-competitive bill. As the Governor noted in his veto message, the opt-out functionality mandated by AB 3048 is already widely available through browsers and plug-ins, so all Californians who wish to send that signal already have a broad range of tools to do so. This bill simply created new regulations without improving privacy or helping Californians, and we hope the legislature will allow this worthy veto to stand."
