As Senior Vice President, New Media Distribution at the National Basketball Association, Jeff Marsilio manages strategy and business development for the NBA’s digital media licensing business.
Since joining the NBA in May 2013, Marsilio has been instrumental in many league accomplishments, including leading the league’s immersive media strategy.
Under Marsilio’s leadership, the NBA entered a partnership with Magic Leap to create a launch experience on its new mixed reality platform; established a partnership with NextVR to stream the first live professional sports game in virtual reality and subsequently launch a weekly schedule of live games in VR through NBA League Pass; and signed a partnership with Oculus to develop storytelling content in VR – including the Sports Emmy-winning NBA Finals documentary “Follow My Lead” – and bring NBA League Pass in VR to Oculus Venues.
In 2017, Marsilio led a partnership with Intel to produce NBA games in VR and capture games in revolutionary “volumetric capture” with Intel’s True View technology, which allows the viewer to place a virtual camera anywhere in the arena – including courtside and even on the court.
Marsilio earned a bachelor’s degree in English and Economics from the University of Connecticut and is a graduate of the Columbia University School of Law.
